Lowcountry Monuments is honored to partner with the varied civic, military and historical groups throughout the greater Charleston area to preserve the unique heritage and history of each.
Our most recent project, The Citadel Bulldog Mascot Memorial, was inspired by the design of the Padgett-Thomas Barracks. The Bulldog Mascot Memorial gives an historical account of all bulldog mascots, as well as the years served and their owners. There are two portions to the memorial, with the vertical portion of the memorial designed to resemble the old barracks. The lower horizontal portion of the monument, with the red and white top, is a columbarium that provides a place of dignity for the cremated remains of the mascots who have passed away. Dedicated on Corps Day 2015, the memorial recognizes an important piece of the college’s history. The memorial is located on the northern end of the Johnson Hagood Stadium, near the Bulldog statue, at the corner of Congress Street and Hagood Avenue.
